Urban Coastal Revitalization
Caliviera District
The Vision
A New Model for Coastal Urban Life in Baja California
Caliviera District is a conceptual urban revitalization initiative for Ensenada — one of Baja California's most culturally rich coastal cities. The project envisions the transformation of an underutilized coastal zone into a vibrant, walkable mixed-use district.
Rather than imposing a generic "luxury development" template, Caliviera District is designed around Ensenada's authentic identity: its wine country heritage, Pacific gastronomy, creative community, fishing culture and maritime history.
Design Principles
Six Pillars of the District
Walkability & Urban Mobility
Car-free promenades, cycling infrastructure and human-scale streets designed for pedestrian life. The district prioritizes walking, cycling and micro-mobility over vehicular traffic.
Mixed-Use Architecture
Residences, boutique hotels, co-working spaces, gastronomy and retail woven into a coherent architectural language that references Baja California's coastal vernacular.
Marina Integration
A revitalized waterfront and marina area connecting the district directly to Ensenada's port, creating a seamless transition between city and sea.
Cultural Identity
Dedicated cultural pavilions, public art programs and spaces celebrating Ensenada's wine, food and artisan traditions as anchor assets for community identity.
Sustainability Infrastructure
Solar-powered public spaces, greywater recycling, urban agriculture and a net-zero energy target embedded in the district's infrastructure design.
Premium Coastal Lifestyle
A curated mix of wellness, hospitality and lifestyle amenities making the Caliviera District a destination for both residents and international visitors.
